A murder that occurred during the Troubles in Northern Ireland is to be made into a film starring Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt.

Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel will helm the project which focuses on events surrounding the murder of teenager Jim Griffin who was shot dead in his home by a young member of the UVF in 1975.

Neeson will play the murderer, Alistair Little, in his later years while Nesbitt will portray Griffin's younger brother Joe.

Writer Guy Hibbert describes the film's opening as: "an accurate, dramatised reconstruction of the events leading to the murder in 1975.

"The action of the remainder of the film, set in the present day, is fiction but based on their emotional response to the fictional situations their characters have been placed in, following close liaison with both men," he told the Lurgan Mail.

The film, which doesn't seem to have a finalised title as yet, is expected to be shown on UK TV before getting an international cinema release.
