Romantic Paris celebrated by Hollywood stars

Hollywood stars Natalie Portman, Maggie Gyllenhaal (pic), Elijah Wood, Nick Nolte and Juliette Binoche have teamed up to make a collection of romantic short films about Paris, collectively titled Paris, je t'aime.

The city of lurve, not the dippy heiress, is being celebrated on screen in a series of shorts about different romantic encounters in each of Paris' arrondissements (post-code areas).

The all-star cast also includes names like Bob Hoskins, Emily Mortimer, Rufus Sewell, Gena Rowlands, Steve Buscemi and Miranda Richardson. And the big names aren't just the actors - directors such as Wes Craven, the Coen brothers, Gus Van Sant and Alexander Payne explore themes of joy, separation, unexpected encounters and love in the shorts.

Paris, je t'aime was premiered in North America at the Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim, and is expected to open in cinemas worldwide early 2007.
