Trade mag Variety is reporting that Ray Winstone has stepped in to the Robert De Niro-shaped breach in "Edge of Darkness", the new thriller directed by "Casino Royale's" Martin Campbell and produced by Graham King's GK Films. Winstone will share the lead with a returning Mel Gibson for this psychological whodunit.
Winstone will play an operative sent in to clean up evidence in the murder of a woman. Gibson meanwhile will play the grieving detective father, who wants answers after his daughter is shot on his very doorstep.
The film is a direct adaptation from Campbell's own 1985 BBC miniseries.
