The fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie is based on an 80s novel by cult fantasy author Tim Powers.
His 1987 novel On Stranger Tides shares the same title as the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which once again stars Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. But Powers has recently revealed that the film will also share the book's plot of a pirate named Jack who sets sail for Jamaica to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.
Powers said, "About a week ago, my agent wrote and said, "You're now able to say that in fact Disney did option the book.' That happened a while ago.
"I'm thrilled. I think it's great."
