John Cleese has spoken openly about having a hair transplant.
The actor revealed that he underwent surgery on his scalp while chatting on Richard and Judy's TV show.
Cleese, who played Q in Bond film Die Another Day, followed a conversation about a previous hip operation by telling the show's hosts: "As we’re talking operations, since I saw you last, I’ve had a hair transplant."
Perhaps the former Fawlty Towers and Monty Python man was being pre-emptive as, with little prompting, he also spoke about his reason for fearing baldness: "Because I have got a very strange shaped skull, very pointy... and I don’t like wearing wigs!"
The procedure, Cleese said, involved surgeons making 800 hairs from just two strips off the back of his head then inserting them into the follicly barren area.
As gadget man Q wasn't written into Casino Royale or Quantum Of Solace, the 69-year-old was axed from the Bond franchise just before Daniel Craig took over the starring role, much to the funnyman's annoyance at the time: "Q doesn't appear in Casino Royale," he said, "but it would have been nice if the producers had the courtesy to telephone me."
