Soul singer/actor and former South Park Chef Isaac Hayes and American Pie's Jennifer Coolidge are among the cast of musical road movie Soul Men.
Will & Grace actor Sean Hayes (certainly no relation) will also feature in the film which stars Samuel L. Jackson and Ocean's Eleven actor and stand up comedian Bernie Mac as Louis and Floyd, two estranged soul singers. The pair embark upon a road trip after being reluctantly reunited for a concert honouring the third member of their band who recently passed away. R&B star John Legend will play the band member who dies.
Coolidge will play the love interest of Mac's character. Hayes plays the band's manager.
Dreamgirls/This Christmas actress Sharon Leal was previously announced as Louis' daughter Cleo, who joins the duo on their road trip and eventually becomes the band's singer.
The film is scheduled for release late 2008.
Isaac Hayes wrote and performed the Oscar-winning soundtrack for the original Shaft film and has appeared in movies such as I'm Gonna Git You Sucka before voicing Chef on South Park, which he quit after the show poked fun at Scientology - of which he is a devotee.
