Atonement leads Bafta nominations

British epic Atonement has topped this year's Bafta nominations with 14 nods.

The drama, which was based on an Ian McEwan's World War II set novel, received 14 nominations including best film, best director for Joe Wright, while the film's stars James McAvoy and Keira Knightley were honoured with acting nominations.

No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood each received nine nominations, including best film for both and a best acting nom for Daniel Day -Lewis.

Other nominations for best film went to The Lives of Others and American Gangster. Meanwhile, other best actor noms have gone to George Clooney, Viggo Mortensen and the late Ulrich Muehe for The Lives Of Others - while, Cate Blanchett, Marion Cotillard and Juno's Ellen Page are all competing against Knightley for best actress.

Winners will be announced on February 10.
