The Los Angeles Times managed to get hold of director Christopher Nolan for a little chat during a break in his busy post-production schedule on "The Dark Knight". Now, this is certainly one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year and Nolan could just about sneeze out a "Batman" quote and it would be news.
The "Prestige" and "Memento" helmer is quoted as saying that "Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is a tragic figure, and his story is the backbone of this film." This little titbit is quite revealing in that everyone knew of Harvey Dent's involvement in proceedings but were unaware of just how integral he is to the plot. It would seem that Dent is certainly in the thick of things and perhaps his slow burn towards criminality and the terrible persona of Two Face will be the film's core.
Nolan also mentioned that The Joker, played by Heather Ledger, "sort of cuts through the film -- he's got no story arc, he's just a force of nature tearing through. Heath has given an amazing performance in the role, it's really extraordinary."
"The Dark Knight" is released July 18. Until then we await further "Batman" news.
