Barrymore whips Page into shape for directing debut

Drew Barrymore is to make her directorial debut on teen movie Whip It!, starring Juno star Ellen Page.

The $10 million movie tells the tale of a reluctant beauty pageant contestant (Page) who finds herself learning how to roller skate.

Page said, "I really admire how Drew constantly challenges herself as an artist. She's proven herself as an actress and a producer, and I have no doubt she'll bring great vision and creativity to the director's chair. I can't wait to kick ass on wheels!"

Barrymore is delighted she can finally show her skills behind the camera, saying, "I've been working toward the goal of directing my entire life. Whip It! is a story that really spoke to me."
