Basic Instinct 2 director Michael Caton-Jones admits he's left cold by starry actors, and sees A-list thespians as just 'movable furniture'.

Speaking at the world premiere of the raunchy sequel, Jones explained: "I work with big names but the size of their stardom doesn't really interest me. I'm completely left cold by it." And when asked if there were any big names he'd like to work with in the future, Jones frankly replied: ""Nah, they're all just removable furniture to me."

But the straight-talking Scotsman, who directed City By The Sea and The Jackal, sung Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone's (pic) praises, describing her as "terrific and completely right for the role."

Jones went on to dispel the myth of glamorous movie directors too, describing his job as more miserable than exciting: "You can come and make your money, get out and move on quickly but it's miserable sometimes. Not necessarily this one, but the older I get I think it's pain and misery on a daily basis with a couple of slivers of enjoyment and then you're done.

"I don't know when the next one is - I've got two films coming out on the same day so I suspect it's God's way of saying I'm a genius. I'm up for weddings and Bah Mitzvahs after that."

And on the raunchy scenes in Basic Instinct 2, Jones was distinctly matter-of fact, saying: "Sex is sex is sex, when you do it properly. Actually I think it would be easier to shoot porn, because you don't have to worry about what you're showing - because you just show it all."
