Jon Voight is to leave the big screen for a while after signing on to star in hit US TV show 24.
The Oscar winning actor, 69, and father of Angelina Jolie, is delighted that he will appear on 24, which stars Kiefer Sutherland as hard-as-nails CTU agent Jack Bauer, branding the series his favourite TV show ever.
The Midnight Cowboy star will play a villain in the two hour prequel TV movie, which airs later this year - before returning in the latter half of the next series in early 2009.
He said, "I am thrilled and excited about being invited to be part of my favourite show 24. I'm hoping to bring my very best to it."
