Britney Spears has decided not to pay the Virgin Mary in a new film after falling out with family members over the role.
The singer was due to play the mother of Jesus in producer Philippe Rebboah's comedy Sweet Baby Jesus but some of her religious relatives were said to be unimpressed.
Rebboah said: "Britney read the script and liked it. She really wanted to play the role of Mary. But people were against it and she was pressured.
"Then she ran into trouble with her family so we decided the timing wasn't right."
The Frenchman, who most recently was associate producer on indie flick The Guitar, previously spoke about his plans to get the 26-year-old pop star to be in his satirical movie: "I had to convince my partners, because they were like, 'Oh, no. Britney?' But I thought it was brilliant."
Britney would've played a pregnant 19-year-old, unsure of her baby's paternity, who goes into labour on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem.
