Orlando Bloom has pulled out of a film days before it began shooting, much to the annoyance of the film's producers.
The Pirates Of The Caribbean star was due to start filming scenes for An Education, which was scripted by Fever Pitch/High Fidelity novelist Nick Hornby.
Bloom reportedly had to cancel because of a last minute schedule clash and has been replaced by the comparatively unknown History Boys actor Dominic Cooper.
Cooper will play a playboy in his thirties (some might say it was an ideal role for Bloom!) in the coming-of-age drama set in the early 1960s. His character dramatically changes the life of a suburban 17-year-old girl.
Cooper joins a stellar British cast that includes Emma Thompson, Peter Sarsgaard, Carey Mulligan, Alfred Molina and Rosamund Pike.
An Education was developed from an early stage with BBC Films and is being directed by Lone Scherfig (Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself). Hornby's script is based on a memoir by British journalist Lynn Barber.
