Roland Emmerich's latest tilt at world destruction, the quite lamentable, "10,000 BC" has managed to defy the critics and scare up a whopping £1.9 million at the UK Box Office in the process to take the number 1 spot. To put things in to context, that's £1 million more than "Vantage Point" could muster, which finds itself slipping to number 2 - that, ladies and gentlemen, is a pre-historic smack down.
Holding his ground at number 3 this week is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in "The Game Plan", the Disney family comedy managed to best Henry VIII and his raging libido in "The Other Boleyn Girl", which has fallen two places to number 4. That all means that "The Bank Job" has been knocked down a peg to number 5.
Not quite doing the business at 6 is the new entry, "The Cottage" - the Brit horror/comedy starring Andy Serkis and Jennifer Ellison only managed to cobble together £300,000 in its opening weekend. Faring decidedly better is "In Bruges" - the Eire release accrued £277,000 in Box Office receipts despite only showing in 70 screens! Meanwhile, slipping down the chart from 5 to 8 is "The Accidental Husband" with "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" debuting at 9 on a limited release. And sticking around at 10 is P.T. Anderson's "There Will Be Blood".
