Comeback star Mickey Rourke has toured a Russian jail in a bid to get into character for his new role in Iron Man 2.

The Wrestler star will play a Soviet arms dealer Crimson Dynamo in the superhero sequel. And he seems to be getting into character. He spent three hours at Moscow’s Butyrka Prison chatting with guards and inmates, as well as sampling the prison cuisine.

Rourke’s jail visit comes as a surprise since director Jon Favreau still refuses to confirm Rourke and Scarlett Johansson’s involvement in the film.

He said, “I can't confirm any casting stuff because there have been no announcements made...I'm very excited about the people that we have. There are no big surprises in casting coming that I can foresee."

Johansson is heavily rumoured to be playing Russian spy The Black Widow.

Rourke’s award-winning performance in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler has given him a new lease of life and amongst the seven (yes, seven!) films he’s currently lined-up to appear in are Sly Stallone’s The Expendables and the Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez movie Sin City 2, in which he's likely to reprise his role as Marv from the first film.
