Vinnie Jones is "jubilant" after being cleared of assaulting a man in a bar room brawl.
The movie tough guy faced a jail sentence after he was accused of hitting Juan Trevino-Barrera during a fight in a South Dakota bar earlier this year. Jones, who argued that he did so in self defence, had earlier been hit by a beer glass by one of Barrera's friends, Jesse Bickett.
The X-Men star was found not guilty in a one day trial in Sioux Falls.
Jones said afterwards,"I am jubilant. People were surprised I took the stand but I just wanted to tell the truth."
He had earlier told the jury, "Bickett smashed the glass in my face, there was blood everywhere. Barrera taunted me saying, 'You had enough old man?' I lunged at him, driven by fear."
Jones mouthed 'thank you' to the jurors after they delivered their verdict.
