Simple Minds have agreed to take part in a 90 minute documentary named after their '80s hit Don’t You Forget About Me.
The Matt Austin directed movie will examine the impact of such '80s films as Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club. The latter featured the titular song which became the Scottish rockers' biggest American hit.
The band did not actually write the song and lead singer Jim Kerr even distanced them from it at the time, choosing not to include it on their own album, but he told Billboard:
“When we were asked to participate in the documentary, at first I was surprised that the original 'Breakfast Club' movie had became such a cult, since it was originally released 20 years ago. The song has become our biggest hit in America, and when we heard the rest of the original cast from the movie agreed to be interviewed ... we felt it was only fitting to participate."
