It looks like Columbia Pictures have found someone to adapt Khaled Hosseini's "A Thousand Splendid Suns" for the big screen – "Schindler's List" writer Steven Zaillian. The scribe has signed on to adapt Hosseini's bestselling novel, his follow–up to "The Kite Runner," which the studio plan to make for around the $15 million mark. "A Thousand Splendid Suns", which stayed at the stop of the New York Times bestseller list for three months, tells the story of two Muslim women, both of whom are married to the same man, and the friendship they share over a ten year period in Afghanistan. Zaillian's previous writing credits include "Gangs of New York", "Hannibal", "Mission: Impossible" and the upcoming "American Gangster".
