Helena says she auditioned for boyfriend's film

Helena Bonham Carter, who recently gave birth to her and Tim Burton's second child, says that she still has to audition for roles in his movies.

“On the page it looks like Tim waking up one morning and going, ‘I wonder who should do it. Do you want to do it? Yeah, why not,’” the British actress said. "It was actually really rigourous and hard, and probably really risky too for us because for one, I definitely had to audition.”

Interestingly, it does seem that she always gets the job.

The role required singing and Stephen Sondheim had casting approval, the Boston Herald reports. “We auditioned nine people, and she was the best,” said Sondheim.

Carter stars opposite Johnny Depp in the typical Burton film that tells the story of the murderous titular barber and his would-be lover who has his victims bodies chopped up in the basement then baked in meat pies.

“I was always going to be right with Johnny,” Carter said. “We’re both pale and tubercular and have big eyes, and Tim’s always said, ‘You both would’ve been great in a silent movie.’”

That doesn't say much for their singing voices does it really?
