McGregor gets all loved up

According to recent reports Ewan McGregor will star in a new romance/drama for first time directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (who penned the hilarious "Bad Santa"). So far, so McGregor who is no stranger to this romance stuff but when you consider that he will be the lust object for comedy superstar Jim Carrey in this one then things start to get interesting. McGregor will play Phillip Morris in the aptly named "I Love You Phillip Morris", a dark comedy based on some truth.

Carrey stars as Steven Russell, a father and a husband whose conman ways catch up with him as he is thrown in a Texan clink. Whilst in custody he falls for his cellmate Phillip Morris. In a suitably quirky twist on the prison drama staple, Russell uses his passion for Morris as motivation enough to escape prison a princely sum of four times. Russell even managed to fake his own death from AIDS and find the time to sign his own death certificate! For all his prison-breaking shenanigans, Russell was rewarded with a further 144 years behind bars.

Production will commence early next years just as soon as Carrey finishes his work on "A Christmas Carol" where he will play multiple roles for Robert Zemeckis in his latest Performance Capture venture.
