Director Adam Shankman, the man behind "Hairspray" and more recently "Bedtime Stories", is signed up for not one, but two new projects.

And the films could not be more diametrically opposed.

Firstly, Shankman is set to 'seas' the opportunity to direct a new version of "Sinbad" and his motley crew for Sony. The film will focus on the naval man and his quest to find Aladdin's lamp.

Meanwhile, the director has re-signed with Disney - which will be music to the major's ears. The new project, entitled "Bob The Musical", will see the eponymous hero being struck on the head and then imbued with the incredible ability to listen to the 'inner song' of people's hearts.

Said Shankman: "Ever since Hairspray, I've been desperate to do another musical. The idea of working with all original music is thrilling. And Sinbad gives me the opportunity to really stretch my imagination as far as I can take it."
