Casting call issued for Carpenter's "L.A. Gothic"

Horror maestro John Carpenter (all hail for he who directed "Halloween" and "The Thing") is set to make a long overdue return to feature filmmaking after some seven years out of the game. And casting has begun on his latest horror project "L.A. Gothic" for a proposed shooting date set in March.

Scribes Jim Agnew and Sean Keller, who have recently signed a deal with another horror legend in Dario Argento to work on his "Giallo", have brokered a pre-strike deal with producers Principal to develop Carpenter's new story.

Little is known of the project except for an official logline that describes the plot as 'five interwoven stories of high-octane horror focusing on a vengeful ex-priest's efforts to protect his teenage daughter from the supernatural evils of L.A.'s dark side'.

Carpenter's last theatrical release was 2001's abysmal "Ghosts of Mars" starring Ice Cube and Jason Statham. We can but hope that Carpenter returns to the big screen bigger and better and remind us all of his genre greatness.
