Having too much salt in your diet is bad. So too is having no Liev Schreiber in your films. And with this timely warning Sony Pictures have acted quickly to snap up the "Defiance" and "Wolverine" star to feature alongside Angelina Jolie in "Salt" - a new spy thriller to be directed by Phillip Noyce.

Schreiber will play the chief intelligence officer of the Russian desk at the CIA and Jolie's boss who is forced to make some pretty tough decisions when his charge goes on the lamb. Yes, Jolie's Evelyn Salt is a CIA operative fingered as a Russian sleeper spy out to assassinate the Pres. Cue some Bourne-like antics as Jolie runs about whilst trying to find the real culprit.

Rounding out the cast is the uniformly brilliant Chiwetel Ejiofor ("Redbelt", "Serenity") making this one a production to keep an eye on.
