Izzard, Nighy join Cruise's WWII thriller

Tom Wilkinson, Eddie Izzard and Bill Nighy have joined the cast of Tom Cruise's World War II thriller, Valkyrie.

The film, about an assassination attempt on Nazi leader Adolf Hitler by two German generals, is apparently based on a true story, and will be co- produced by Cruise.

In addition to Cruise, the star-studded cast also includes Kenneth Branagh, Patrick Wilson, Stephen Fry and Black Book star Carice Van Houten.

British comedian Izzard is notching up his film roles: he's appeared in all the Ocean's films (most recently Ocean's Thirteen), just finished work on musical drama Across The Universe and has a leading role in adventure mystery The Other Side, opposite Brittany Murphy and Jason Lee, which starts filming in August.
