It's a case of another week, another remake. It's been announced that John Carpenter's seminal "The Thing" is getting a 21st century upgrade. Considered as one of the most innovative horror / sci-fi movies of all time, Carpenter's 1982 movie - which was itself inspired by 1951 flick "The Thing from Another World" - told the story of a shape-shifting alien that was terrorising the inhabitants of an Antarctic research facility.
And now Strike Entertainment and Universal Pictures want to produce "a companion piece" to the movie, rather than a note-for-note remake according to Variety. "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer Ronald D. Moore is to script the update while David Foster, who produced the original film, will executive produce. There's no news yet though as to who will star.
