Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine once astonished fellow guests at a dinner party by adding cocaine, rather than sugar, to her coffee.
The Terms Of Endearment star claims in her memoir Sage-ing While Age-ing to have led a drugs-free existence, with the exception of some cannabis-laced brownies given to her by the late Robert Mitchum and the day she mistook Class A drugs for "Sweet 'n' Low".
"At a fancy party in Hollywood, I put a teaspoon of what I thought was very refined sugar in my demitasse coffee," writes the 73-year-old. "The hostess was horrified because it was $1,000 worth of coke. I didn't drink the coffee and I was never invited back."
Some people are so touchy aren't they, Shirley?
