Russell T Davies has revealed he is desperate to see the first female Dr Who - and wants Catherine Zeta Jones to play her.
Departing lead writer Davies is hoping that the next Time Lord to replace David Tennant will be played by a woman.
He said, "I think the more it's talked about, the more likely it is to happen."
When asked who he would like to play the part, he replied, "Lesley Sharp or Catherine Zeta-Jones. It's a big deal to set up. Whoever becomes the doctor has got to take on a whole life. It's a lot of soul-searching to do,"
