21, loosely based on “Bringing Down the House” follows an MIT student as he joins a team of students and a professor who are secretly traveling to Las Vegas to count cards.
The plot is generally predictable, even if you haven’t read the book, but that doesn’t stop the movie from being enjoyable. I recommend movie to anyone looking for something light, exciting, and interesting.
Jim Sturgess delivers a good performance as the lead and does a decent job portraying the main student’s development over the course of the film. Kevin Spacey also fills his role out well as the maverick professor. The other characters are a bit shallower and are at times a bit cliché; however, this is not a serious issue.
