Wes Craven has admitted he is considering returning to the director's chair for Scream 4.

Scream 3 was released in 2000, and was expected to be the last instalment of the franchise. However, the Weinstein Company announced last year that the franchise will be returning with a brand new cast of youngsters for the masked killer to terrorise.

And the trilogy's director, Craven, could return providing the story is a good one from Scream 1 and 2 writer, Kevin Williamson.

"It would take it being really as good a script as the first one was. I don’t know his ideas at all. But they have made a deal with Kevin to write.”

Craven is also hoping for a bumper pay day with his work on the much troubled Weinstein Company production of werewolf movie Cursed also taken into consideration.

He laughs, "The pay day (should) reflect what I’ve done for that company and what I've gone through on Cursed."
