Jet Li quits martial arts

Jet Li fans are going to have to come to terms with the fact that they've seen the last of his Chinese martial arts movies.

The 43-year-old Chinese actor insists forthcoming movie Fearless will be the last time we see kicking and punching. Instead of physical roles, he wants to take more spiritual parts in the future.

Li told canoe.ca at the Fearless premiere: "This is my last Wushu (martial arts) movie in China. Because Wushu in China, we're writing from two words -- Stop. War. Put it together: Stop war. I learned martial arts, through my life, for 43 years, and I put my belief and my philosophy and (the) physical (aspect), both part in this movie. After this, nothing to talk about. I say this last one."

Li's decision may have something to do with the physical nature of Wushu movies. In Fearless alone the actor broke seven bones within 60 days of the 90-day shoot.
