Actor Kevin Kline's film about human trafficking, Trade, opened on Wednesday at the United Nations.
The picture, inspired by an article in the New York Times magazine, concerns a teenage Mexican girl and a young Polish woman who are kidnapped by traffickers and sold in America. Kline plays the police who attempts to rescue them.
"It tells a story with a human face and tries to make it very real without sensationalising," Kline told a news conference prior to the screening."It doesn't have blockbuster written all over it, but one hopes it will have a ripple effect so the awareness level will be raised as much as it can be."
Five per cent of the film's proceeds during the first few months will go to the Vienna-based Office On Drugs and Crime.
