Brit veteran joins Pegg in Star Trek film

More developments in the casting for the upcoming Star Trek film – Simon Pegg will be joined by fellow Brit Ben Cross as Spock's father.

Pegg took the role of Scotty, which had reportedly been considered by James McAvoy, Heroes actor Zachary Quinto will play Spock and Eric Bana the villain.

Veteran actor Cross appeared in 1981 athletic drama Chariots Of Fire and 1995 flick First Knight.

There will be more than one Spock in the film, too, as Leonard Nimoy will also appear at some point. However, William Shatner, who played Capt. Kirk in the '60s TV series, will not.

Previously the modest Shatner said of his omission: "I thought, 'What a decision to make,' since it obviously is a decision not to make use of the popularity I have to ensure the movie has good box office. It didn't seem to be a wise business decision."
