Grease not the word for Fonzie

The Fonz regrets making an uncool move by turning down the role of Danny Zuko in Grease.

Happy Days star Henry Winkler was the first choice to star opposite Olivia Newton-John in 1978 musical which went on to be one of the most successful of all time.

Winkler, however, didn't want to forever cast as Mr Cool.

He said: "I was asked to be in Grease. But I decided I didn't want to be typecast. But what I didn't realise was that I already was. That's why John Travolta went on to buy his own plane and I just went home."

Geez, what a nerd.

And while Travolta went on to make films like Pulp Fiction, Wild Hogs and Hairspray, Winkler can now boast about his current role, playing Captain Hook in New Wimbledon Theatre’s Christmas production of Peter Pan alongside the likes of Bobby Davro.
