"Snakes" slither to top of US chart

After all the buzz and online hype, "Snakes On A Plane" has topped this weekend's US box office chart. The movie, which stars Samuel L. Jackson as a federal agent trying to survive a flight crawling with deadly reptiles, deposed "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" from the top spot although it didn't perform as well as many had expected - the film earned just over $15 million although it was thought it's bank much more.

"Talladega Nights" came in second on $14 million while Oliver Stone's controversial 9/11 drama "World Trade Center" finished third. New Justin Long comedy "Accepted" debuted in fourth spot as dance drama "Step Up" rounded out the top 5.
