Ricky Gervais continues to enjoy his raised profile in America with the film Ghost Town, which has largely been reviewed favourably.
The Office and Extras creator also seems to be warming to life on that side of the pond and is especially excited to be there during the Presidential election.
"I've never been interested in politics until now," he explains. "I am so following this election, and I don't know if it's because Obama is so charismatic and we could have the first black president.
"And Sarah Palin is David Brent. She is! There's so much comedy value in watching her talk. It's going to be exciting."
The comic from Reading clearly feels he is in the perfect environment for making good films as he previously pointed out that few good films are being made in the UK at the moment. "The Americans are just better at it than us," he said. "There's an odd exception, but when it comes to making movies we don't really cut the mustard. Not since about 1950."
So, clearly he thinks Ghost Town is doing its fair share of mustard cutting: "[Ghost Town] is absolutely the best script I've read for a movie," he told Empire. "I must have turned down over a hundred movies over the years because they have to tick a lot of boxes for me to be interested."
UK audiences can make their own mind up when the film opens here on Friday.
