Travolta comes to Cruise's rescue

John Travolta has leapt to the rescue of under fire Tom Cruise. The actor has been ridiculed by the media after a second tape of him praising Scientology was leaked to the net and subsequently removed. The tape shows the actor telling followers of the controversial religion that they "have the ability to create new and better realities".

But fellow Scientologist John Travolta has come to the rescue of his friend, saying, "(Tom) has - we all have - the right to practise how we feel. It finally becomes unfair."

Travolta's backing follows Cruise business partner Paula Wagner's defence of the Top Gun actor, saying "It's easy to mock an out-of-context video. But that doesn't change the fact that Tom Cruise is one of the hardest-working and nicest human beings I have ever known."
