"Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem" makes a dream debut at the UK Box Office

Do not adjust your monitors...and nor is this a terrible mistake. "Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem", perhaps this year's most critically derided film thus far, (although, one that I rather enjoyed?!) has topped the UK Box Office Chart with a staggering £2 million opening weekend from almost 400 screens (Note to studios - never underestimate the power of the Fanboy Pound).

Another new entry at 2 this week is the Coen Brothers' "No Country for Old Men" pulling in Box Office receipts to the tune of £1.3 million. It should be noted that the Golden Globe-nominated success was shown in only 164 screens - that's half the number of "AvP:R" yet it still gave the galactic beasties a run for their money! Dropping a place down to 3 is soppy rom-com "P.S. I Love You" with former chart-topper "I Am Legend" finally relinquishing its crown and settling this week for number 4 (not that all concerned mind much - "I Am Legend" has grossed some £23 million in just four weeks!).

Falling two places to 5 this week then is "Charlie Wilson's War" and Brit comedy "St. Trinian's" has finally been forced out of the top 5 resting as it does at 6. Making more money than it rightfully should at 7 is "Alvin and the Chipmunks" with Disney's feel-good hit of the year "Enchanted" at 8. And propping up the chart this week are two Box Office stalwarts in "The Golden Compass" at 9 and "Bee Movie" at 10.
