Funnyman Jason Segel got a shock when he found out the co-star in his new film was the same man that earlier threatened to beat him up for flirting with his girlfriend.
When Segel and director Nick Stoller began working on Forgetting Sarah Marshall in Hawaii the actor nearly ended up getting into a scrap with an ultimate fighter named Claw.
"While I was writing the film I accidentally flirted with this girl, who turned out to be [dating] the scariest man I have ever met," Segel told MTV. "He was an ultimate fighter, and he basically threatened to beat the s**t out of me.
"I lived in terror of this guy for a long time. ... So when that happened, I wrote a scene about it, because I thought it would be a funny thing to happen in the movie.
"When I showed up to do the movie, Nick said, 'We cast a really scary guy to intimidate you in the fight scene. And I look at the head shot, and it's that dude! It was horrifying."
But Stoller insists the casting wasn't deliberate, although the part Claw (real name Kala Alexander) played was of a jealous man annoyed at people flirting with his ex-girlfriend. Stoller explains, "I didn't realise. Jason turned really white, and I said, 'What is it?' He had realised they were the same guy.
"Jason got f**king terrified and I said, 'Look, Kala is a working actor. He doesn't want to beat the s**t out of you. He just wants to do the movie. He doesn't care. You're not currently hitting on his girlfriend! We shot the scene, and the whole time Jason is terrified."
