Shatner ruled out of Star Trek prequel

Mixed news for Trekkie fans. Bad news is that William Shatner is reportedly not going to appear in the forthcoming Star Trek prequel.

The original Cpt Kirk was supposed to have made a brief appearance at the start of the JJ Abrahms movie. However, the good news is that Leonard Nimoy AKA Mr Spock has been offered a role by Paramount instead.

According to the New York Post Shatner "is very upset," "and has been lobbying for a role."

Matt Damon is rumoured to in line to play the young Cpt Kirk in the film.
