"Snakes On A Plane" proved popular with cinemagoers. The Samuel L. Jackson high concept thriller/horror film opened at first place of the UK box office this weekend (August 18th - 20th) taking just over £1 million.
Last week's No. 1, family animation "Cars" slipped a gear, falling one spot into second. Third spot went to "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" (which has now taken over £48 million), while new CGI family comedy "Monster House" dropped to fourth. Another new entry "John Tucker Must Die" rounded off the top five. The main disappointments this week were two new releases opening outside of the top ten. Christian Bale's action film "Harsh Times" and director Richard Linklater's "A Scanner Darkly".
