Leslie Nielsen is to reprise his role as the police buffoon Lt Frank Drebin in a fourth Naked Gun movie.
Paramount Famous Prods. have announced that there will be a fourth film in the comedy franchise. However, the latest adventure won't be getting a cinema release - it will be going straight to DVD.
And Naked Gun won't be the only big name getting straight to DVD sequels. Paramount have announced that follow ups to hit titles like Road Trip, Bad News Bears, Grease and Mean Girls (sans Lindsay Lohan) will be getting the same treatment.
Paramount Famous Prods. president Louis Feola said, "The name Paramount Famous Prods. speaks to the studio's rich history and reputation for delivering world-class, memorable entertainment to diverse audiences.
"We plan to continue building on Paramount's legacy and the strength of Viacom's brands by developing tailor-made entertainment to moviegoers who choose to view our films on today's expanding, non theatrical distribution platforms such as Blu-ray and VOD (Video On Demand)."
The first Naked Gun film was released in 1998 and made Nielsen a household name. Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult was released in 1994.
Obviously the insult was not final after all.
