Cobain's life to be turned into a Troy story

Troy screenwriter David Benioff is to pen the script for a film about Nirvana singer and rock icon Kurt Cobain.

The film will based on Charles Cross's 2001 biography, Heavier Than Heaven and, according to Reuters, Cobain's widow Courtney Love and her attorney Howard Weitzman will act as executive producers.

Although well received by most critics, Heavier Than Heaven was criticised in some quarters for failing to include comments from Cobain's mother or drummer Dave Grohl, now the frontman of Foo Fighters. To further complicate matters, Grohl and Love have a stormy relationship, exacerbated by the latter's recent claim that her late husband despised Grohl.

Trainspotting star Ewan McGregor is reported to be in talks over the Cobain role.
