With her knockout performance in "Rachel's Getting Married", which received its UK premiere at this year's London Film Festival, there's a large amount of 'buzz' surrounding "Get Smart" star Anne Hathaway at the moment! So much so that Warner Bros. has nabbed the starlet to headline director Burr Steers' romantic comedy "The Fiance".
Dyanne Stempel and Jennifer Robinson first penned the script for this new rom-com property and now Warner Bros. has commissioned "Tropic Thunder's" Etan Cohen to head up adaptation duties. Surprisingly Etan Cohen is in fact a real person and not some clever pseudonym employed by Oscar-winner and "No Country for Old Men" co-director Ethan Coen to submit giggle-laced scripts. Cohen has just finished up his writing gig on the Judd Apatow-produced "Sherlock Holmes", which is set to star Sacha Baron Cohen as the legendary sleuth and Will Ferrell as Watson.
Hathaway, as is the want for most projects like this, will go on a soul-searching journey after dumping her well-to-do fiance before the wedding bells chime in order to figure out what exactly it is that she wants from her life. However, her meddling parents try to scupper these plans by forcing her back in to the arms of her former fiance. This represents something of a double casting coup for Warner Bros. after ensuring Hathaway's return for "Get Smart 2".
