Scottish actor Billy Boyd has revealed that he has no money despite starring in one of the biggest franchises of all time.

'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy has earned nearly £2 billion worldwide, but Boyd, who played the hobbit Pippin in the films, has revealed that he is still a struggling actor. Following his work on the films his most notable roles include a bit part in Russell Crowe's 'Master and Commander', voicing a doll in 'Seed of Chucky' and a starring role in TV's 'Moby Dick'.

He said, "I don't have any money. We were unknown actors. We did it for peanuts, and for food."

And Boyd has conceded that starring in the hugely successful trilogy will most likely be the biggest film he ever stars in.

However, he insisted he's not bitter: "Once you get in your head that you're not going to do anything bigger, you just do things that you enjoy."

Boyd has three films in the pipeline - 'Glenn, the Flying Robot', 'The Lion Inside' and 'The Witches of Oz 3D', which reunites him with his 'LOTR' co-star Sean Astin.

Actors who starred in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and have gone on to have further big screen success include Elijah Wood, Sir Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and Karl Urban - who has starred in 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'Star Trek'. Dominic Monaghan was a regular on the hit TV show 'Lost'.
