Director Mike Nichols has denied his new movie Charlie Wilson's War, starring Tom Hanks (pic), has been a troubled production.
The film, which also stars Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman, sees Hanks playing a congressman who assists rebels in Afghanistan in their fight against the Soviets in the 1980s.
It had originally been tipped as a potential Oscar winner, but has recently started filming re-shoots - normally a sign that the movie is in trouble.
However, Nichols, who directed '60s classic The Graduate, denies the claims. He said, "We had a whole sequence in Morocco which was pretty much ruined by the weather.
"In other words, we couldn’t shoot, we couldn't finish it. So we just moved to the California Mountains, and it was the first thing we did when we came back to this country. We shot all that, and we shot most of it in a combination of California and Morocco, I defy anyone to tell me the difference.
"That’s the only re-shoot we had, but Hollywood being Hollywood there were rumours that we'd gone and torn the picture apart. And it was always the weather stuff."
Poor Hanks, he's not having much luck really. Filming on the prequel to the Da Vinci Code has had to be postponed due to the Los Angeles writers strike.
