Mickey Rourke has signed on to star in a movie version of the real-life hitman Ricard 'Iceman' Kuklinski.

The news of Rourke's casting follows Phil Carlo, whose biography The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer the film is based on, originally said no to the project when he heard GI Joe star Channing Tatum was being lined up for the role. He refused to hand over the rights, saying Rourke was a better choice to play the hitman who murdered over 150 people as a contract killer for the Mafia.

So he must be delighted to hear that Rourke has signed on for the role.

Carlo said, "We hit it off beautifully. He's really looking forward to being the Ice Man and I think he'll do a great job. He's talking about it being his Raging Bull."
