X-Men star Hugh Jackman has added another string to his bow - he's becoming a comic book writer.

The action movie hero, who is also an accomplished musical stage performer, recently turned TV producer on US show Viva Laughlin - but he's showcasing another talent by co-creating a brand new comic book series with writer Marc Guggenheim.

The pair are teaming up with Virgin Comics to work on the series Nowhere Man. The details of the story are pretty scarce at the moment, all that's known is that it's set in a futuristic world where mankind has traded privacy for safety. If the comic is successful it will then be made into a movie starring (surprise, surprise) Jackman.

"This is our first comic, and we feel the concept is transferable to other arenas, perhaps first as a videogame, and then a movie," said Jackman's producing partner John Palermo.

Jackman added, "I've had so much fun in the graphic novel world with the X-Men franchise that I wanted to get even more involved. I'm excited to work with Virgin and Marc and create a compelling character and story that hopefully will also make it to the bigscreen."

Before Jackman starts work on the series he has another comic book project to finish - he's currently filming the eagerly awaited stand alone Wolverine (pic) movie.

He must have loved comic books when he was a kid.
