Julia Stiles is to play a depressive in a movie version of Sylvia Plath's novel The Bell Jar.
The actress, last seen in The Omen, will also co-produce the story of young reporter Esther Greenwood, a suicidal character loosely based on Plath herself.
Co-producer Celine Rattray told Variety: "Esther Greenwood has a strong outlook on life, and we're really looking to bring out the humour in the character.
"We don't want to do a depressing descent into the world of suicide."
Before then you can catch Julia in The Bourne Ultimatum alongside Matt Damon, in UK cinemas this August.
