Steve Carell’s Evan Almighty has sailed to the top of the US box office. The follow-up to Bruce Almighty, which starred Jim Carey, took $32.1 million, not such great figures considering its budget of $175 million.
Another new entry opened in second place, the Stephen King adapted 1408 horror starring John Cusack.
The week’s big disappointment was for Warner Bros whose teen thriller Nancy Drew opened at No.9.
