Now this is a reality show we can get on board with - Steven Seagal is to become a sheriff's deputy on the streets of New Orleans.

The 80's action star will begin work on the A&E-produced reality show 'Steven Seagal: Lawman' early next year, documenting his life on the beat.

Seagal has actually been a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish County Sheriff's office for nearly 20 years, and helped with recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina hit the city in 2005.

Seagal said, "I decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it's important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in Louisiana.

A&E's Robert Sharenow added, "(Seagal) helps fight crime because he cares about the community."

The martial arts star was one of the biggest action stars in the late 80's, early 90's after starring in a string of films including Hard To Kill and Under Seige.
